About Us

Shorepoint exists to lead people into an authentic and life changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Lead Pastors

Pastor Brian + Bethany Engl

From a young age, Pastor Brian carried a God-given dream to establish a new church on Capitol Drive—a vision that has shaped his life and ministry. Nearly twenty years later, that dream became a reality when he and his wife, Bethany, founded Shorepoint Church in 2015. Together, they lead with authenticity, humility, and a deep passion to see lives transformed by the power of Jesus.

Pastor Brian and Bethany’s heart is to make the name of Jesus known throughout Milwaukee and beyond, with a vision to plant five other life-giving churches along Capitol Drive. Their greatest joys are serving the Lord, advancing His Kingdom, and raising their five beautiful children. More than anything, they desire for every person who walks through the doors of Shorepoint Church to encounter Jesus, find genuine community, and truly feel at home.

Our Values

Everything we do is fueled by the presence of God. From our worship experience on a Sunday to having coffee with a friend, we want to see people radically encounter Jesus and come to a deep revelation of the freedom we have in knowing Him. This passion helps us stay committed to the journey of advancing the Kingdom.

Exodus 33:14 // Psalm 16:11 // Jeremiah 29:13 // Acts 3:20 // Hebrews 4:16 // James 4:8

Jesus commissioned His followers to go into all the world with His message. We are responding to the call of Christ, witnessing and participating in the building of the Church and the extension of His kingdom.

Matthew 28:19 // Acts 1:8 // 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

We like to say that we are better together because we have the opportunity to learn and grow as we influence each other’s lives. Jesus gave commandments to love our neighbors as ourselves. It is with this heart that we are committed to allow God to frame our lives through authentic community.

John 15:13 // Proverbs 17:17 + 27:17 // John 15:15

We believe church should be fun, encouraging, and inspiring. Hebrews 10:24 points to this value when it states, Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. We believe that every person was made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with respect. The motivation of our actions will always be rooted in love, encouraging people to be more of who they were created to be.

John 10:10 // 2 Corinthians 3:17 // John 3:16

We believe life-change happens best in community, when we are unified. The Bible references the power of unity in Philippians 2:2, where it states we are to live in one accord, knit together in spirit. At Shorepoint, we want to be known as individuals who have come together, under One Name, for a common purpose, and are stronger for it.

Philippians 2:2 // John 17:21 // Ephesians 4:3,16 // 1 Corinthians 1:10

At Shorepoint, we believe cultivating a generous heart is our response to God who has been ever generous with us. In return, we give of our time, talents, and resources so others can discover hope. Everything we have is a gift, and we want to help as many people as we can with our generosity – locally and globally.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 // Proverbs 11:24-25 // Matthew 6:19-21

We believe excellence honors God and inspires people. Having an excellent spirit circles back to being purpose driven, while representing Jesus and His Church well. We are engaged, hard working, faithful servants who do things to the best of our ability to spread the Gospel of Christ.

Philippians 4:8 // Daniel 6:3 // Colossians 3:23 // Matthew 5:14-16

Our mission is to sow into and equip this generation. We believe that children, youth, and young adults don’t need to wait to step into their calling some day, but that they actually get to be a part of it right now.

Psalm 78:3-4 // Psalm 145:3-4 // Psalm 48:12-14 // 1 Peter 2:9

Honor recognizes and affirms that every person is valuable. We are vocal with our honor, meaning we demonstrate through consistent respect in word and action toward those we lead, love, and follow. We choose to submit to the leadership placed over us and care for those placed under us.

1 Peter 2:17 // Romans 12:10 // Philippians 2:3

What We Believe

Bible

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and His revelation to humanity of Himself and His plan of salvation. Written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, Scripture is truth without error and fully relevant to life today. It tells us what is right, what is not right, how to get right, and how to stay right.

II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20–21; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25–26

Trinity

There is one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is one in essence and three in person. Each Person is fully God, equal in power and authority, while serving distinct roles.

I John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16–17, 28:19; Isaiah 9:6

The Father

God the Father is all-powerful, all-knowing, always present, unchanging, and completely holy. He is loving, compassionate, faithful, and fully worthy of our trust. He is both great in power and good in heart.

Exodus 3:14; Psalm 11:4–6; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16

The Son

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died as our substitute, and rose again, defeating death. Through Him alone, people are restored to a right relationship with God.

John 1:1,14; Philippians 2:5–6; I Timothy 2:5

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit assures believers of their relationship with Christ. He guides us into truth, convicts of sin, empowers for service, gives spiritual gifts, and transforms us to become more like Jesus.

John 15:26; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9–11

Man

Humanity is created in the image of God and deeply valued by Him. Though created for fellowship with God, sin separated us from Him, making salvation impossible through our own efforts.

Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–3

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection provide forgiveness of sin and restored life with God—apart from works or merit.

Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10; Titus 3:5

Eternity

Every person was created to exist forever—either separated from God by sin or united with Him through salvation. Heaven and Hell are real and eternal destinations.

John 14:1–6; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
